I'm interesting in shooting .22 competitively..?

I'm a senior in high school and a member of the school's FFA program, which offers a .22 shooting competition. I have a CZ 452 that i have put over 5,000 rounds through, is this a good gun for competitive shooting? Also if you could provide me with any tips or shooting techniques i can practice, that would be a great help.
